Legal document · Monstarium
Monstarium ("the game") is developed by Filipe Tessaro. The game does not collect data about you. There is no account, login, ads, analytics, or third-party SDK gathering information.
Everything the game stores stays on your computer and is not sent to us. The only features that contact outside services are real weather and Twitch chat, which are optional and off by default (§3).
The saved game (coins, monsters in the terrarium and in the box, eggs, bestiary, colors found, and achievements) and window preferences (monitor and strip width).
On Windows, these files live in your user's application data folder (%APPDATA%\terrario-de-monstros).
Name, email, phone number, contacts, location, advertising identifiers, files on your computer, what appears on your screen, or any other personal information.
The game sits on top of your desktop, but it does not read or record what is behind it. It does not make connections to servers during play, with three exceptions: opening these pages in your browser when you click the links in Settings, real weather and Twitch chat, if you turn them on.
Real weather (optional, off by default). If you turn this option on in Settings and type a city, the game sends the city name to the place search service of Open-Meteo to find its coordinates and then, every 30 minutes, sends those coordinates to Open-Meteo to learn whether it is raining or snowing. Nothing else is sent: no name, no account, no identifier. As with any internet request, Open-Meteo sees the IP address the request comes from, under its terms. Turning the option off stops the requests right away. The city you typed and its coordinates are kept in your saved game.
Twitch chat (optional, off by default). For streamers: if you type a Twitch channel in Settings, the game connects to that channel's public chat read-only, with no login and an anonymous name, and reads messages that start with !monster to name monsters. The game never posts to the chat and keeps nothing it reads, except the chosen name and the nickname of who gave it, which stay in your saved game. Twitch sees the IP address of the connection, under its privacy notice. Clearing the channel in Settings closes the connection.
Photos taken with the postcard are saved in your Pictures folder (Pictures\Monstarium) and copied to the clipboard. They never leave your computer.
In the version distributed via Steam, the purchase, achievements, and cloud save (if enabled) go through Steam, by Valve Corporation, and follow Valve's privacy policy. We do not receive your payment data or your Steam account data.
The game has no violence: it's about hatching, caring for, and collecting creatures. Since nothing is collected, there is no children's data to protect.
Delete the %APPDATA%\terrario-de-monstros folder or uninstall the game. If you use Steam cloud save, disable it in the game's Steam properties first.
Since nothing is sent to us, there is nothing to request deletion of elsewhere, which is why the game has no account-deletion page.
If any feature that sends data is ever added (an online leaderboard, for example), this page is updated before that version ships, stating exactly what starts being sent.
The date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent version.
