Privacy Policy — Íris
Language: PT · EN · ES
Last updated: August 21, 2026
This policy explains what data the Íris app (a voice-based emotional wellbeing journal) collects, how it is used and who it is shared with.
Important: Íris is an emotional wellbeing and self-reflection tool. It is not a therapy, psychotherapy, diagnosis or medical treatment service, and it does not replace professional care. If you are in crisis or at risk, call your local emergency line — in Brazil, CVV on 188 — or seek emergency help immediately.
1. Data we collect
- Account: by default you use the app anonymously (no email). If you choose to create a login with email and password, we store that data so you can access your account on other devices.
- Voice recordings: the audio of what you record, stored privately until you delete the entry or the account.
- Transcript and analysis: the transcribed text of your speech and the AI-generated analysis (identified emotions, themes, insight, reflective question, estimated mood). This data is treated as sensitive data under Brazil's LGPD, as it relates to your emotional health. Because of that, before your first recording the app asks for specific, highlighted consent for this processing, on a dedicated screen separate from these Terms.
- Quick check-ins: when you log your mood without recording your voice.
- App usage: number of recordings per week (to enforce the free plan limit), usage streak, and your usual time of use (for the daily reminder).
- Community shares: if you choose to share an insight anonymously in the support feed, only the insight text (never the audio or the transcript) is visible to other users, with no identification of who shared it.
- Subscription data: if you subscribe to Premium, the subscription status (active/inactive) is stored to unlock the matching features. We have no access to your card details — payments are processed by Google Play.
- Feedback: messages you send through the "Report a problem or suggest something" screen.
2. How we use your data
- Transcribe your speech and generate the emotional analysis (emotions, themes, insight, reflective question) using artificial intelligence services.
- Detect risk signals in your speech in order to show crisis support mode (pointing you to a helpline) — this screening never decides for you and never replaces human help.
- Show your emotional progress over time (timeline, recurring patterns) and keep your progress (streak, achievements) saved across sessions.
- Enforce the free plan limits and unlock Premium features.
- Automatically moderate any content before it is published to the Community feed.
Your data is never used to train third-party artificial intelligence models.
3. Who we share data with
We use the following third-party services to run the app. Each one processes only what its function requires:
- Supabase — hosts your account, recordings, transcripts and analyses, with access control so that only you (once authenticated) can read your own data.
- Groq — receives the audio of your recording only at the moment of transcription, to turn your speech into text.
- Anthropic (Claude) — receives the transcript (never the audio) to generate the emotional analysis and, where applicable, to moderate content before it is published to the Community.
- RevenueCat — manages your Premium subscription status.
- Google Play Billing — processes subscription payments; we have no access to your card details.
We do not sell your data. We do not show third-party ads in the app.
4. Data retention and deletion
Your data is stored for as long as your account exists. Inside the app, under Settings, you can:
- Delete a specific recording at any time.
- Delete all of your data and your account at once ("Delete all my data") — this action is immediate and permanent, including your recordings, transcripts, analyses and your login.
If you prefer, you can also request deletion by email (see the account deletion page).
5. Security
Your data is protected by access rules ensuring that only you (once authenticated) can read or modify your own recordings, transcripts and analyses. Content shared in the Community is always anonymous to other users.
6. Children
Because of the emotional-health content and the crisis support mode, Íris is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
7. Your rights (LGPD)
You may at any time request access, correction, portability or deletion of your personal data by contacting us at the email below.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The date of the last update always appears at the top of this page.
