PlantScan AI ("the app", "we", "us") helps you identify plants from photos, track what you've found, and get basic care and health guidance. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and what control you have over it.
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password, plus any username, avatar, or language preference you choose to set.
Photos and scan results. When you scan a plant, the photo is sent to our plant-identification provider to be analyzed, then stored in your account so it appears in your collection. The identification result (species, confidence, care notes, and — if you check it — a health/disease assessment) is stored alongside the photo.
Usage data. We may collect basic, aggregated usage events (for example, that a scan happened, or that a paywall was viewed) to understand how the app is used and improve it. These events are not sold or shared with advertisers.
Purchase information. If you subscribe to Premium, the purchase is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive only your subscription status (active, expired, etc.) — never your card details.
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run the app, each with their own privacy practices:
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share your photos or scan history with advertisers.
Your data is stored in a Postgres database protected by row-level security, meaning your account can only read and write its own rows — no other user's app account can see your scans or profile directly. Photos are stored in access-scoped cloud storage. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable, industry-standard steps to protect your information.
You can permanently delete your PlantScan AI account at any time.
How to request it: open the app, go to your profile screen, and tap "Delete my account" — deletion happens immediately, no waiting period. If you can't access the app, send an email instead to sphereoftopics@gmail.com from the address linked to your account, with the subject "Delete my PlantScan AI account"; we verify the request and confirm by email once it's done.
What gets deleted: your profile (email, username, avatar, language preference), all scanned photos, scan and identification history, streaks, and earned badges. Your entry disappears from the community leaderboard immediately.
What may be retained, and for how long: your active Premium subscription status is managed by the Apple App Store or Google Play directly and isn't affected by this request — cancel it separately in your store account if you no longer want it to renew. For email-based requests, we may keep minimal records of the request itself (e.g. the date it was processed) for up to 90 days for fraud-prevention and support purposes, after which they are purged. No scan photos or plant data are kept past deletion.
Turnaround: in-app deletion is immediate. Email requests are processed within 30 days.
PlantScan AI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
If we make a material change to how we handle your data, we'll update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
